Spotlight Sara’s Heartfelt Flowers & Gifts

This week’s Spotlight is on Sara’s Heartfelt Flowers & Gifts! Sara Holmes took ownership of the business from Oma Dell Burns on March 1, 2019. Holmes mother owned a flower shop when she was young and then she worked with Burns for about a year, learning the trade of floral design and customer care along the way. “Flowers brighten people’s day and comfort loved ones – this was a natural transition for me.”

The Holmes family moved to Tishomingo 8 years ago when Sara’s husband, Luke, took the position of pastor at the Tishomingo First Baptist Church. The couple has three daughters; Hannah, Elizabeth, and Miah. Holmes is not just an owner, but an operator, and can be found working in the shop with help from her staff; Michelle Payne, Hannah Searles, Kristin Nabors, and Isabelle Ross. These ladies have a unique artistic ability and have a lot of fun working together. “We are also glad to see Oma Dell come by when she’s missing us, or more likely because we miss her!”

Sara’s Heartfelt Flowers & Gifts offers a selection of services including wrapped flowers, floral arrangements for any special day, casket pieces, funeral sprays, plants, gift baskets, stuffed animals, balloons, tuxedo rental, and wedding and prom flowers. You will also find home décor, candles, greeting cards, baskets, rustic containers, wind chimes, wreaths for every season, jewelry, clothing, men’s pocket knives, and body care (soaps, lotions, shower gel, etc.). Vendor spaces are also available and some of the current merchants include custom wood design, restored antique furniture, home décor, and clothing. Delivery is available for all products.

The flower shop supports local non-profits and groups including the Johnston County Chamber of Commerce, Johnston County Reaching Out, Tishomingo Development Team, the EMS Egg Scramble, area schools and churches. “Part of being in such a great community means giving where you can. The Lord has blessed us, and Luke and I want to give back any way we can.”

Hours of operation for the shop located at 201 E. Main are Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Summer hours will be M-F, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. but customers can always expect service anytime they need it, even if it’s not normal business hours! Members of the community are encouraged to stop by for a visit. “Sometimes you’ll find customers in the back talking to us while we work – that is priceless – we love our customers!” Sara wishes to extend her heartfelt thanks to Oma Dell Burns for the mentorship, friendship, and help received while transitioning from floral designer to flower shop owner.
