Fall in Love with Our Small Businesses

2020 has been something, hasn’t it? We are all feeling it. From small organizations and businesses to large corporations, our homes and churches. I am sure that many of us hoped that the new school year would bring a sense of normalcy back, and that is probably somewhat true.

The fact is that the construction on Main Street in Tishomingo has been especially hard on our downtown businesses, adding to the stresses of COVID-19 and the restrictions that have followed. The timing for that project to start wasn’t the best, but hey, we’re all thinking about the finish line and it will be great when we get to the end.

In the meantime, we have to continue to support those businesses, even if it means dealing with the slight inconvenience of having to walk a little further to get to them.  They are right “on the beaten path,” as I like to say.

To encourage foot traffic in these businesses, the Main Street Committee of the Johnston County Chamber has organized a fall cross-promotional sales event. We invite you to “fall” in love with our small businesses this season and kick off the cool weather, warm feelings and gift giving with a fun sales event!

Visit a participating chamber-member business from Thursday, October 1st through Sunday, October 4th during business hours, make a purchase, draw a fall leaf from a jar near the register with a number on it and receive a discount for a different participating business. There will be a flyer next to the jar that will tell you what your discount is for. Keep visiting businesses and making purchases to continue to draw leaves for more discounts! You never know what you’ll get – there is a variety of offerings available from 35 businesses in the area, including one in Mannsville. The jars of leaves will go away after the 4th, but shoppers will have until Saturday, October 10th to use their discount by presenting their leaf at the business. We hope this will give shoppers a payday or two to use their discounts. Offers expire 10/10.

Thank you to local shoppers for providing foot traffic for chamber businesses and thank you to the businesses for getting involved and cross-promoting one another! This is what the holiday spirit is all about! Please take photos with your leaf, post to Facebook and tag the business and the chamber by using the “@” sign.
